GiggleWalls

Overview

GiggleWalls is an Aavitech product: a hand-picked wallpaper library for iPhone and iPad. Thousands of HD and 4K images are organised into categories such as nature, abstract, anime, minimal and supercars, updated daily, and applied to the home or lock screen in a single tap - with every wallpaper free, no subscription and no paywall.

The challenge

Wallpaper apps are a crowded category where most of the competition is ad-heavy, paywalled behind a subscription, or stocked with low-resolution images that do not fit modern screens. The bar is a library big enough to keep browsing worthwhile, fast enough to feel instant on a phone, and honest enough that a good wallpaper is not held hostage behind a purchase.

Our solution

We built the iOS app around a curated catalogue: featured, popular and latest rails on the home screen, category and tag browsing, and a detail view that shows resolution, file size, an AMOLED flag and download count before anything is saved. Favourites are kept in a personal list and synced through Sign in with Apple, wallpapers are smart-cropped to the device aspect ratio and applied in one tap, and a low-data mode keeps browsing usable on a limited connection. Editors' picks and daily additions keep the library moving.
