Pocket STB

Overview

Pocket STB is an Aavitech product: a player-only IPTV app that takes a subscription the viewer already owns and makes it watchable on every screen they own. It speaks all three delivery formats providers use - Stalker/MAG portals, the Xtream Codes API and M3U/M3U8 playlists - so a viewer sets up an account once and gets Live TV, Movies and Series in one organised app, with a TV guide and offline downloads on top.

The challenge

IPTV subscriptions are delivered in three incompatible ways, and most players handle one of them - so viewers end up with a different app per provider, dated interfaces, no program guide, and nothing to watch when they are offline. Anything player-side also has to stay strictly a player: no hosting, no bundled channels, no content of its own.

Our solution

We built one app across the Apple and Android families around a single account model. Stalker portals connect with a portal URL and MAC address, Xtream Codes with API credentials, M3U/M3U8 with a remote URL or a local file - and several accounts can live side by side and be switched at any time. On top of that sits a categorised Live TV, Movies and Series browser, an EPG that shows now and next for every channel, background offline downloads into sandboxed storage, account sync on the device, and a built-in player tuned for instant channel switching, resume watching and play-next-episode.
